Hot Yoga

60 minute class.

Hot Yoga is a beginner’s class of 28 asanas and 2 breathing exercises which return you to a natural state of physical and mental balance. Set to soothing, yet energetic music, this class has been therapeutically designed to restore every muscle, joint, and organ of the body.

It’s origin was designed to treat injuries and imbalances through the discipline of alignment and technique rather than performance.

The system utilizes simple therapeutic exercises to mobilize and strengthen every area of the body, from the eyes down to the toes, including the internal organs and systems. In this way, it resembles physical therapy.

It uses postures (asanas) to bring grace and control to the body and stillness to the mind. It uses breathing exercises (pranayama and kapalbhati) to reduce stress and anxiety and begin on the path of spirituality.

Generally speaking, the goals of Hot Yoga begin with health in the body and stillness in the mind. It is characterized by its use of stillness during and immediately following yoga postures. This system of tension and release emphasizes relaxation between periods of effort.

Circulation of fresh oxygenated blood throughout the body during practice benefits the heart and other organs. Many postures massage the lymphatic system, which promotes the elimination of toxins.

The combination of heat and humidity will cleanse the body by flushing toxins, leaving you with higher energy, vitality, and freedom.

You’ll feel the stress melt away and your body will relax immediately. You’ll continue to deepen the benefits of your practice with each class.

All Levels are welcome.

Hot Vinyasa

60 minute class.

Hot Vinyasa is a dynamic class, practiced in a heated room, where the connection between breath and movement is maintained throughout. The poses are connected together smoothly, very much like a dance so that you flow from one asana into the next.

“Vinyasa” is a Sanskrit word that has several different meanings and may be deciphered by its Sanskritic roots. “Nyasa” denotes "to place," and “vi” means "in a special way.”

Some of the most common definitions for Vinyasa include (but are not limited to) "linking breath with movement." Generally, Vinyasa is used as a noun to describe the sequence of poses that are performed between Adho Mukha Svanasanas (downward facing dog) as part of a Surya Namaskara (sun salutation) sequence; however, this is more correctly termed “half vinyasa,” since vinyasa returns to complete standing asana, or positions.

Finally, most, if not all, Vinyasa classes contain some variation of a sun salutation (Surya Namaskar), whether it’s simply for warming up in the beginning or flowing from one pose to another.

You can expect a flowing class that contains Pranayama, sometimes music and a variety of different poses that range from novice level to advanced. All Vinyasa classes vary in intensity and pace, but, overall, when practicing Vinyasa yoga, movement and breath should always be simultaneous.

All levels are welcome.
