Student of the Month September 2019: Matt and Katie Shaff



WHEN DID YOU START YOGA AND WHERE?
Katie was at Yoga Works downtown for a couple of years about 7 years ago. She started at Yoga Tribe in April 2018. Matt started yoga for the first time at Yoga Tribe in December 2018 after Katie couldn’t stop talking about it and Matt instantly loved it.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU PRACTICE YOGA?
Katie is there 5-6 days a week and Matt is there 4-5 days a week. We like to go together when we can manage it.  DATE NIGHT!

WHY DO YOU PRACTICE YOGA?
We both love the high level of intensity and focus that many of the classes require, but the low impact on joints, back, neck, etc.  Focus.

WHAT ARE THE PRIMARY BENEFITS YOU EXPERIENCE?
Yoga makes my back and neck feel much better, and Sculpt keeps my heart racing. Yoga also strengthens my core and my mind. Focus.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST CHALLENGING POSTURE? WHY?
Katie’s most challenging posture is Standing Bow.  Matt’s most challenging posture is Standing Hands To Feet.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE POSTURE?
Katie’s favorite posture is svasana at the end.  Matt’s favorite postures are the Standing Series, especially standing bow. It always makes me smile when we start the standing series. Now Focus.

HOW HAS YOUR HOT YOGA PRACTICE IMPACTED OR CHANGED YOUR LIFE?
Both of us feel stronger, better, and healthier.  We both feel grateful to be able to do this, and hope to continue for a long time to come.  We feel more focused in our life.
