WHEN DID YOU START YOGA AND WHERE?
I have been practicing yoga on and off since college but I wasn't regular about it until the last four years.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU PRACTICE YOGA?
I average 4 or 5 sessions per week.

WHY DO YOU PRACTICE YOGA?
Hard to say. Probably for the same reason I eat.

WHAT ARE THE PRIMARY BENEFITS YOU EXPERIENCE?
The committee is always in session, but yoga somehow quiets my mental roommates down long enough to catch a breath and see a bit more clearly. And sweating. There's always a lot of sweating.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST CHALLENGING POSTURE? WHY?

I don't like to "isolate" the moves any more in my mind. Sometimes that led me to anticipate or get distracted by what was coming. Being fully and completely present in whatever posture I am moving through as I am doing it is the most challenging.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE POSTURE?
I think of class as one big posture. A while back I started to treat class like a scuba diver treats a deep dive. It is such a balance of breath, movement, anticipation, and patience. My favorite moments are when I am in the zone, dialed in, fully aware but not fixated. Or I'm just semi-conscious from the heat. Who knows.

HOW HAS YOUR HOT YOGA PRACTICE IMPACTED OR CHANGED YOUR LIFE?

Hard to say. Yoga has been part of a bigger process for me which includes the physical, mental, and spiritual. Little nibbles of truth seem to show up for me now: move from judgement to observation; equal effort on both sides; marriage of hearth and lungs; find the balance point between effort and struggle; and of course, tree waits for toe
