WHEN DID YOU START YOGA AND WHERE?
I have been practicing yoga since 2010. I started out in a small studio called Greenleaf Yoga in Whittier, CA, where I was born and raised. It was a non heated studio, and at the time a level 2 vinyasa flow was my addiction. Prior to moving to HB with my husband, I practiced everyday after work, 5 days a week. After moving to HB I was so distraught that I was never going to practice again at the studio where I got started and was at for 6 years. Then I found Yoga Tribe. Yoga Tribe’s Hot Yoga has changed my life. It has pushed me to another level in my practice, personal growth, and daily life.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU PRACTICE YOGA?
I try and practice at least 3-4 days a week. Hoping to get back to 5 days a week as my two sons get older.

WHY DO YOU PRACTICE YOGA?
I have severe anxiety and depression. Hot yoga is a way to calm my mind and gain the strength to overcome the mental challenges that are thrown my way. It has also shown me that I am stronger than I think I am mentally and physically.

WHAT ARE THE PRIMARY BENEFITS YOU EXPERIENCE?
There are a lot of benefits for me. Hot Yoga helps keep me grounded and focused. It has helped me with my posture and breathing, which in turn has given me the tools to help overcome my anxiety. I get to sweat out the toxins, keep my heart young, skin alive, and I’m sleeping better all while doing something I love and am passionate about.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST CHALLENGING POSTURE? WHY?
Standing head to knee, Dandayamana Janushirasana is my most challenging yet favorite posture. The focus and dedication we need for this pose, keeping still while sweating, and balancing, keeps me wanting more.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE POSTURE?
Standing head to knee, Dandayamana Janushirasana, and balancing tree are my all time favorites.

HOW HAS YOUR HOT YOGA PRACTICE IMPACTED OR CHANGED YOUR LIFE?
Hot yoga gives me an outer body experience. Although I still have a lot of room to learn in my practice, I have been able to reach a level in my asanas where I never thought I would be. The poses and structure gives me a sense of self reflection on how to be a better mother, wife, and mainly to accept myself for who I am. I hope that one day this dedication shows my sons that it pays off to work hard and be as healthy as possible, while doing what you love. Thank you Yoga Tribe.

Namaste!
